The Network for Women’s Rights in Ghana (NETRIGHT), a reputable national women’s rights and economic justice advocacy network, is urgently looking for committed gender and development professionals with practical working experience to join our team. NETRIGHT is seeking a dynamic, creative, and committed Communications Officer to lead and strengthen the organisation’s communications, visibility, and public engagement. The following are the responsibilities and qualifications for the position;
General Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic Communications Officer to manage our internal and external communications. S/he will be responsible for overseeing the communications efforts of NETRIGHT, including public relations and branding. Responsibilities will include promoting a positive public image, developing, managing, and disseminating information on behalf of NETRIGHT. In addition, the Communications Officer will manage and provide content for NETRIGHT’s social media platforms and website. S/he will take reasonable steps to ensure that communication is accessible to all by ensuring that information is made available in a variety of formats in line with NETRIGHT’s commitment to women’s rights, gender equality, and economic justice.
Responsibilities
Strategic Communication
i. Develop and implement NETRIGHT’s communications strategy in line with organisational goals and advocacy priorities.
ii. Support advocacy campaigns through effective messaging and media engagement.
iii. Ensure consistency in NETRIGHT’s branding, tone, and feminist values across all platforms.
Content Creation & Media
i. Produce high-quality content, including press releases, statements, articles, newsletters, annual reports, briefs, quarterly updates, social media content, and website updates.
ii. Document and communicate outcomes of programmes, trainings, dialogues, and campaigns.
iii. Support storytelling initiatives that center women’s lived experiences and feminist narratives.
Digital & Social Media Management
i. Manage NETRIGHT’s social media platforms and online presence.
ii. Design and schedule content to increase engagement, reach, and visibility.
iii. Monitor trends and conversations relevant to women’s rights, gender equality, and social justice.
Media & Stakeholder Engagement
i. Build and maintain relationships with media houses, journalists, and communication partners.
ii. Coordinate media coverage for events, campaigns, and policy engagements.
iii. Support the preparation of talking points, speeches, and public statements.
Internal Communication & Knowledge Management
i. Support internal communication within the NETRIGHT Secretariat and membership.
ii. Archive and manage communication materials, photos, videos, and publications.
iii. Contribute to donor reports and organizational documentation as required.
Educational Qualifications and Experience
i. Holds a master’s degree in communications, Journalism, or any related field with at least three (3) years working experience or a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in any related area with at least 5 years working experience. A gender background is an added advantage.
ii. Knowledge and experience of the women’s movement and women’s rights and gender equality work in Ghana and beyond.
iii. Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to communicate complex policy issues clearly and creatively.
iv. Demonstrated experience managing social media and digital communication tools.
v. Experience with graphic design tools, e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, etc., and Content Management System is an added advantage.
vi. Demonstrated experience and creativity in the design and development of marketing, public relations, or educational programmes and communications materials.

i. Have excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to craft media content related to NETRIGHT’s mandate.
ii. Must be a strong team player. Possess good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
iii. Experience in networking, advocacy, and women’s mobilising.
iv. Demonstrate strong interest in gender equality, social justice, women’s rights, and empowerment issues.
v. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
vi. High level of initiative, creativity, and attention to detail.
vii. Ability to work with little supervision and meet deadlines
viii. Commitment to NETRIGHT’s values of inclusion, equality, and social justice.
Must provide a professional portfolio including at least three best writing samples and communications products, if shortlisted for an interview.
