 About the Department:

The University Communications Office at Ashesi shapes and coordinates communication efforts across the University, crafting and sharing compelling stories about Ashesi’s people, programs, and impact. Our team develops content that spans the University’s website, social media, admissions materials, and press engagement, among others and works closely with the Ashesi Foundation on fundraising and advancement communications.

 We are seeking a versatile and creative Multimedia Officer to join our team. This role requires a keen sense of strong storytelling and the ability to bring ideas to life through multimedia. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-moving university environment, is comfortable navigating new challenges, and enjoys working collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders to develop engaging content.

 The selected candidate will report to the Senior Multimedia Officer.

Key Responsibilities

• Seek out and capture compelling visual narratives - through photography and video that highlights Ashesi’s people, activities, and impact.
• Take initiative in solving creative challenges, and experimenting with new storytelling techniques and formats.
• Independently produce, shoot, and edit multimedia content (photo, video, and other visual formats) for multiple communication channels.
• Collaborate with the Communications team to develop and execute content strategies that align with Ashesi’s messaging, branding, and strategic goals, contributing creative ideas and direction.
• Contribute to the growth of a multimedia library to support communications needs.
• Provide support for other communications activities as needed.

 Role Requirements:

• A strong storytelling instinct—you know how to find and frame moments that resonate with a diverse group.
• Technical expertise in photography and video production, with the ability to contribute to content creation across multiple channels.
• Confidence in navigating ambiguity; comfortable figuring things out, making creative decisions, and finding solutions as you go.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deliver high-quality work efficiently.
• Strong interpersonal skills; able to work well with others, communicate clearly, and thrive in a collaborative environment.
• An understanding of Ashesi’s work, and the ability to tailor visual storytelling accordingly.
