NB: Candidates must be based in and around Koforidua and Suhum or open to relocate there.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you passionate about technology and education? Do you want to shape the future of Ghana by teaching the next generation of innovators? We are launching an exciting Coding and Robotics program in private basic schools across the Eastern Region. We're looking for enthusiastic, tech-savvy facilitators to join our founding team and help Ghanaian children develop 21st-century skills.

This is more than a job - it's a chance to build something meaningful from the ground up.

JOB DESCRIPTION

You will:

1. Teach coding and robotics to students from Primary 1 to JHS 3

2. Deliver engaging after-school sessions (Monday-Friday) and weekend enrichment classes

3. Use block-based coding platforms (Scratch, Code.org) and physical robotics kits

4. Develop lesson plans and adapt curriculum to student needs

5. Track student progress and provide regular feedback

6. Maintain equipment and learning materials

7. Build positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff

8. Inspire young minds to become creators, not just consumers of technology

 

Teaching Schedule:

1. Monday-Friday: After-school sessions (typically 12:30pm-5:30pm)

2. Saturdays: Enrichment programs (9:00am-3:00pm)

3. Preparation time: Built into schedule for lesson planning

 

BREAKDOWN OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching & Delivery (70%):

1. Plan and deliver age-appropriate coding and robotics lessons

2. Create engaging, hands-on learning experiences

3. Manage classroom dynamics and maintain student engagement

4. Adapt teaching methods to different learning styles

5. Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback

6. Organize student showcases and project demonstrations

 

Administrative (20%):

1. Maintain accurate attendance and progress records

2. Prepare and submit weekly reports to program management

3. Communicate with parents about student progress

4. Coordinate with school administration and staff and manage equipment inventory and maintenance

 

Professional Development (10%):

1. Participate in training sessions and team meetings

2. Stay updated on coding education trends and best practices

3. Contribute to curriculum improvement and development

4. Collaborate with other facilitators to share best practices

 

Total weekly commitment: Approximately 25-30 hours including teaching, preparation, and administrative tasks.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential Qualifications:

1. Education: Diploma, HND, or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Education (ICT), or related field

2. Location: Must reside in or be willing to relocate to partner schools in the Eastern region as mentioned above.

 

Technical Skills:

1. Basic understanding of programming concepts (any language)

2. Comfortable using computers and learning new software

3. Familiarity with Scratch, Python, or block-based coding (or willingness to learn quickly)

4. Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

 

Teaching Skills:

1. Experience working with children or young people (formal or informal)

2. Excellent communication skills in English (and Twi is an advantage)

3. Classroom management ability

4. Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm

5. Ability to explain technical concepts simply

 

Personal Attributes:

1. Passionate about technology and education

2. Reliable - punctual and committed

3. Adaptable - comfortable with startup environment

4. Self-motivated - can work independently

5. Team player - collaborative and open to feedback

Bonus Points:

1. Teaching experience (schools, tutoring, etc.)

2. Experience with robotics kits (LEGO, Arduino, etc.)

3. Previous work in EdTech or STEM education

4. Personal interest in coding/tech projects

5. Youth mentoring or coaching experience
