A global non-profit organization is looking for a dedicated Food Security and Agribusiness Officer to assist in advising and supporting farmers with innovative farming techniques, methods and technologies. The food security and agribusiness Officer’s roles will include providing advice and technical support in agricultural production, storage, processing and marketing. Our ideal candidate is someone who has a strong understanding of agriculture and agribusiness, is passionate about rural development and farming communities and has excellent communication skills. As follows are the responsibilities and qualification for the position;
Responsibilities
· Candidate will lead the implementation of donor funded agricultural development projects and programs in conjunction with stakeholders.
· Candidate will facilitate the adoption of good agricultural practices and inputs such as improved seeds, fertilizers and pesticides
· Candidate will assist farmers in addressing challenges related to farming, crop and livestock management
· Candidate will train farmers on climate change, biodiversity and resilient agriculture
· Candidate will assist farmers in planning and managing crop and animal production
· Candidate will collect and analyse data related to agricultural production, pricing and other relevant factors on regular basis
· Candidate must keep abreast with the latest developments in agricultural science, technology and market trends
· Candidate must prepare reports on work activities, progress, areas of concern and recommendations for improvement
Qualification
· Proven work experience in agricultural project management
· In-depth knowledge of extension service delivery in Ghana
· Knowledge of modern farming techniques, agricultural policies and regulations
· Experience working on donor projects
· Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
· Proficient in local Ghanaian languages may be an advantage
· MSc degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness or a related field
· At least 5 years of proven work experience in agricultural project management
