Role Description

The Dental Nurse / Assistant will provide chairside clinical assistance to dental practitioners, ensure adherence to infection prevention and control protocols, maintain accurate documentation, and support efficient operations within the dental unit in accordance with national healthcare regulations and institutional policies.

Key Responsibilities

·       Assist during dental examinations and procedures.

·       Prepare patients and treatment areas.

·       Ensure sterilisation and decontamination of instruments according to approved regulatory standards.

·       Maintain dental equipment for clinical use.

·       Keep accurate patient records and documentation.

·       Support patient safety and quality improvement protocols.

·       Provide oral health education and care instructions to patients.

·       Manage dental supplies and stock.

·       Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

·       Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.

Educational Qualifications & Experience

·       Certificate or Diploma in Dental Nursing/Dental Assisting from a recognised institution.

·       Registration or eligibility for registration with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), Ghana (where applicable).

·       Valid Practising Licence.

·       Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in a dental or hospital setting (preferred).

·       Knowledge of infection prevention, sterilisation, and clinical safety standards.

·       Basic computer literacy and documentation skills.
