A growing energy company based in Accra is seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Accountant to join its Finance team.

This role plays a key part in ensuring strong financial control, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across the company's fuel distribution and retail network.

The successful candidate will also support procurement coordination, financial reporting, and strategic decision-making, while contributing to the company's expansion into new retail outlets.

The role

The Accountant will be responsible for end-to-end financial management across the business, including banking, reconciliations, statutory compliance, procurement support, and management reporting.

The role also provides critical financial insight to the CEO and supports operational decision- making across fuel supply, inventory, and outlet performance.

Key responsibilities

Financial management & reporting

·       Oversee daily banking and reconciliation of all outlet sales

·       Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation between sales records and bank deposits

·       Prepare weekly and monthly financial and consolidated sales reports

·       Produce monthly management accounts including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements

·       Provide variance analysis and financial insights to support leadership decision-making

Procurement & supply chain support

·       Source petroleum products at competitive and cost-effective market rates

·       Coordinate with suppliers and logistics partners to ensure continuous product availability

·       Monitor fuel inventory levels and support stock-out prevention across outlets

Statutory compliance

·       Ensure timely payment of all statutory obligations including:

o   Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA)

o   National Petroleum Authority (NPA)

o   Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST)

o   SSNIT

·       Maintain accurate compliance records and support audit readiness

Business expansion support

·       Support identification and evaluation of potential new retail outlet locations

·       Assist in acquisition, leasing, and licensing processes for new stations

·       Maintain documentation for leases, permits, and property agreements

Executive & strategic support

·       Support the CEO with financial analysis, reporting, and decision support

·       Contribute to strategic initiatives and ad hoc finance-related projects

·       Provide insights to improve operational and financial performance

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

·       Strong financial analysis and accounting capability

·       High attention to detail and accuracy

·       Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability

·       Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

·       High integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism

·       Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

Qualifications and experience

·       Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

·       Professional qualification (ICA, ACCA, or equivalent) required

·       3-5 years' relevant experience, preferably in the oil marketing or energy sector

·       Strong knowledge of statutory reporting and compliance requirements in Ghana

·       Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
