Position Title: Accountant Department: Finance Reports To: Chief Executive Officer Location: Accra, Ghana Job Type: Full-time

Position Overview

We seek a detail-oriented General Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain compliance with accounting standards. This role supports the finance team in maintaining fiscal integrity and driving informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Record Maintenance

       i.          Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR).

     ii.          Record journal entries and maintain the general ledger (GL).

    iii.          Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts monthly.

Financial Reporting

       i.          Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).

     ii.          Generate departmental budget vs. actual reports.

    iii.          Assist in year-end audit preparations.

Compliance & Controls

       i.          Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS and company policies.

     ii.          Maintain internal controls for financial accuracy.

    iii.          Support tax filings (VAT, income tax, payroll tax).

Payroll & Expense Management

       i.          Process semi-monthly/monthly payroll (collaborating with HR).

     ii.          Reimburse employee expenses and manage corporate credit cards.

Month-End & Year-End Closing

       i.          Execute closing procedures (accruals, deferrals, prepaids).

     ii.          Prepare supporting schedules for financial audits.

Process Improvement

       i.          Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows.

     ii.          Implement automation tools to enhance efficiency.

 

Required Qualifications

       i.          Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

     ii.          Experience: 4+ years in general accounting, bookkeeping, or audit.

    iii.          Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite).

   iv.          Technical Skills: Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, SUMIF).

     v.          Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.

   vi.          Certifications (Preferred ): CPA, CMA, ACCA, CA or equivalent

 

Preferred Qualifications

       i.          Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).

     ii.          Knowledge of tax regulations

    iii.          Experience in oil and gas industry
