Purpose

The Electrical Technician (Maintenance) is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within the water treatment plant. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the plant’s reliability by diagnosing electrical faults, performing preventive maintenance, and implementing corrective measures to enhance operational efficiency and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, including motors, control panels, pumps, and generators.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and carry out necessary repairs to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of electrical components by performing scheduled maintenance in line with the plant’s maintenance plan.
  • Record and analyze performance data of electrical systems and equipment for efficiency evaluation and fault prevention.
  • Install, test, and commission new electrical components and systems as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all electrical maintenance activities and report findings to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in the implementation of energy conservation measures to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Maintenance and Production teams to ensure smooth plant operations.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance needs and ensure quick restoration of services.

 

Qualifications/Experience

  • HND (Electrical Engineering) or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance within a water treatment plant or similar industrial setting.
  • Ability to read and write technical reports.
  • Strong understanding of electrical installations and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
