Job Summary:

The Chief Mechanic will oversee all mechanical operations within the organization, ensuring that all equipment and machinery are maintained to the highest safety and efficiency standards. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in mechanical systems, specifically with knowledge of brands such as Caterpillar, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence. The Chief Mechanic will lead a team of mechanics, manage maintenance schedules, troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, and implement best practices in mechanical maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

1.    Leadership and Supervision:

·       Lead, mentor, and manage a team of mechanics and technicians.

·       Assign tasks and responsibilities to ensure efficient workflow and optimal team performance.

·       Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide training to enhance skills.

2.    Maintenance Management:

·       Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program for all machinery and equipment.

·       Schedule regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to minimize downtime.

·       Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

3.    Troubleshooting and Repairs:

·       Diagnose complex mechanical issues and develop effective solutions.

·       Oversee major repairs and modifications to equipment, ensuring high-quality workmanship.

·       Maintain records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance activities.

4.    Inventory Management:

·       Manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies needed for maintenance operations.

·       Coordinate with suppliers to procure necessary materials while staying within budget.

5.    Collaboration:

·       Work closely with other departments (operations and project) to ensure alignment on operational goals.

·       Provide technical support for new projects or equipment installations.

6.    Continuous Improvement:

·       Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical maintenance.

·       Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Qualifications:

·       A high school diploma or equivalent; experience in mechanical maintenance is preferred.

·       Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with 5 years in a supervisory role.

·       Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, Caterpillar brands, and diagnostic equipment.

·       Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

·       Strong leadership abilities with effective communication skills.
