Responsibilities :
As a Grant Officer you will;
• Develop compelling grant proposals aligned with Farming in Africa's strategic priorities and donor guidelines.
• Conduct thorough research to identify and secure funding opportunities from a diverse range of donors, including (but not limited to) USAID, GIZ, Mastercard Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, and other international development agencies.
• Manage the entire grant writing process, from initial concept development and proposal writing to budget creation and submission.
• Collaborate closely with program teams to ensure proposals accurately reflect project goals, activities, and budgets.
• Liaise with donors to address any inquiries and manage the post-submission process, including grant negotiations and reporting requirements.
• Track grant application progress, analyze results, and identify trends to inform future fundraising strategies.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years of experience writing successful grant proposals for non-profit organizations in the international development sector, with a focus on agriculture and/or food security.
• Proven track record of securing grants from major donors, including USAID, GIZ, Mastercard Foundation, or similar organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and persuasive grant proposals that effectively communicate program goals, impact, and budget needs.
• Strong understanding of the grant writing process, including research, proposal development, budgeting, and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in Africa, particularly in the agricultural development sector.
• Knowledge of current funding trends in international development and agriculture.
• Experience managing a team of grant writers (a plus).
