Your Impact:

  • Oversee the project from planning to completion, ensuring it aligns with strategic goals, allocating resources effectively, and managing the project comprehensively to achieve success.

As Part Of Our Team You Will:

  • Drive the planning, safely, and successfully deliver complete key projects within the business unit, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and organizational goals.
  • Develop project management frameworks and methodologies, utilizing established standard practices to streamline processes across all project initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to the project team leads to enhance their performance and foster professional development in a professional manner.
  • Track project progress, performance, and outcomes, ensuring projects are delivered on the agreed scope, schedule, budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Lead and champion safety systems implementation, usage, execution, review, and refinement with visible felt in field leadership and role modelling.
  • Identify and evaluate project risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation or realization strategies and actions as needed.
  • Generate and deliver comprehensive project reports, including status updates, performance metrics, and risk assessments, to the Head of Projects, Business Unit.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager, Projects as Ahafo South, and other senior team members to ensure alignment and effective communication of project objectives and progress.
  • Confirm all projects comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and company policies, upholding high standards of governance and accountability.
  • Lead project budgets and forecasts, track expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure stakeholder management across functions established and maintained - integrated team structure.

Your Work Environment:

  • The position is located at our Ahafo South site.

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:

Formal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering and Construction Management.
  • Post Graduate qualifications in Business or other related fields aligned to Project needs.

 Experience:

  • +15 years demonstrated performance in managing complex projects in diverse geographic locations, preferably in mining and more specific underground mining.
  • Preferably Expatriate Experience in location like Africa.

Additional Knowledge:

  • Advanced level strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advanced level foundation in contemporary community relations practices and standards required.
  • Possess personal qualities of professional leadership, superior intellectual capacity, sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills and business acumen.

 Problem Solving Ability:

  • Develop and refine existing systems, and develop new systems, by understanding trends within a single field of knowledge.
  • Recognize the interconnections of data from a flow of real events within a system (or knowledge field, or discipline).
  • Think about alternative means to achieve a goal by forming chains of hypothetical activities (if this, then that; if that, then the other).
  • Generate and test hypotheses within a single field of knowledge.
  • Determine the difference between special and systemic causes.

Technical Skills:

  • Expert level detailed and in-depth understanding of project management methodologies, contract administration, risk management, and quality assurance principles.
  • Extensive experience at "advanced level" in project management with a proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale multi-billion-dollar infrastructure projects as an Owner's Representative or Project Director.
  • Proven experience at an "advanced level" in attracting and retaining a high-performing and diversified leadership team, creating a teamwork environment built on coaching, development, and accountability for achieving results.
  • Advanced experience in working constructively with governments, communities, NGOs, and special interest groups.
  • Competent understanding of global economic, social, competitive, and political trends
  • International breadth and exposure.
  • Good understanding of underground mining processes and the progression of studies from development through to implementation.

Social Process Skills:

  • Demonstrates strong effectiveness across team dynamics, collaboration, and self-awareness by flexing between team member and leader roles, building, and influencing stakeholder relationships to achieve results, and consistently reflecting on and adapting personal behavior while prioritizing broader business needs.
