Report To: Operations Manager
Job Brief:
Manage and lead a team by allocating workload, and managing the day-to-day operations in the workshop
and off-site tasks. Required to co-ordinate resources and liaise with internal and external key contacts
to ensure work is delivered on time and to a quality standard.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for job allocation and job flow in the workshop and off-site. Including job scheduling and labour allocation for daily operations.
· Co-ordinate all resources, schedules and activities to effectively manage jobs.
· Ensure supplies are ordered for each job, correct job numbers are used and time records are logged correctly.
· Identify clients’ needs and be ready to explain/demonstrate those which may involve technical descriptions of parts and the way they may be used.
· Assist with quotations, purchasing materials and quality checks, by the WASP.
· Ensure closure of job cards checking that all tasks, spare parts, lubricants and hours worked are recorded and documented according to workshop policies and procedures.
· Regularly report progress on each job and quickly communicate delays or concerns with the Operations Manager. Report on manpower overruns or shortfalls.
· Ensure adequate maintenance of tools, equipment, and other materials in the service area.
· Conduct quality control checks on equipment under repair and upon completion, always ensuring MAN standards in the process and the VVAG WASP.
· Respond to customers’ requests for updates on the status of their jobs and keep the communication channels open to ensure the information is accurate.
· Develop and implement systems to record, file and store information about customers’ enquiries by the WASP.
· Identify staff that require ongoing training and implement training opportunities to ensure their skills are improved.
· Promote a Health and Safety culture within the workshop and report all faults and defects encountered within the work area or with equipment used.
· Review customers’ service orders and inspect the quality of repairs before the release of vehicles.
· Receive and review feedback from customers and follow up to ensure customer satisfaction Work with senior management to investigate customer complaints and concerns arising from products and suggest appropriate solutions.
· Plan and prepare an annual budget submission to the Operations Manager for the department and facilities, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
· Prepare monthly reports and KPI’s for analysis. Investigate trends in order to implement strategies to enhance productivity and boost revenue.
· Provide feedback to staff that are performing to the expected level and ensure human resources are informed of trends in performance.

Requirements:
· Diploma/Degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering.
· Min. of 3 years experience managing an automotive workshop.
· Extensive Knowledge of mechanical issues, warranties, service and general repairs.
· Computer literate with a solid understanding of Microsoft applications.
· Ability to advise customers on the required jobs in a timely, professional manner.
· Must hold and maintain a valid Driver’s License - Class C or above.
