Job Title: EXPORT SALES MANAGER – WEST AFRICA REGION (BILINGUAL: ENGLISH & FRENCH)

Location: JAMESTOWN OFFICE

Reports To: HEAD OF SALES & MARKETING

Employment Type: FULL-TIME

Job Summary:

Our client, a leading manufacturer and distributor of soaps and other cleaning detergents. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Export Sales Manager to lead our sales efforts in the West African region. The ideal candidate should be fluent in both English and French, with a proven track record of driving sales growth, building strong customer relationships, and navigating the complexities of the West African market. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a deep understanding of export processes and international trade regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Sales Strategy & Market Expansion:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue targets in the West African region.

- Identify new business opportunities, markets, and potential clients to expand the company’s footprint.

- Conduct market research to understand regional trends, customer needs, and competitor activities.

2. Client Relationship Management:

- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, distributors, and partners.

- Act as the primary point of contact for clients in the region, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

 - Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms of sale to maximize profitability while maintaining customer loyalty.

3. Export Operations & Compliance:

- Oversee the end-to-end export process, including order processing, documentation, and logistics coordination.

- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and export/import laws in both the home country and West African markets.

- Collaborate with internal teams (logistics, finance, and legal) to ensure smooth execution of export operations.

4. Team Leadership & Collaboration:

- Lead and mentor a team of sales representatives and support staff to achieve regional sales targets.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, product development, and supply chain) to align sales strategies with company objectives.

5. Reporting & Analysis:

- Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance analyses for senior management.

- Monitor sales metrics, market trends, and customer feedback to adjust strategies as needed.

6. Cultural & Language Expertise:

- Leverage fluency in English and French to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders across the region.

- Demonstrate cultural awareness and adaptability to navigate diverse business environments in West Africa.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.

2. Experience:

- Minimum of *5-7 years* of experience in export sales, international business development, or a similar role.

- Proven experience working in or with the *West African market*, with a strong understanding of regional dynamics.

- Experience in managing distributors, agents, and direct sales channels.

3. Skills:

- Fluency in English and French (both written and spoken) is mandatory.

- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- In-depth knowledge of export documentation, Incoterms, and international trade regulations.

- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales analytics tools.

- Ability to travel frequently within the West African region (up to 50% travel).

4. Personal Attributes:
