Purpose
The primary purpose of the Mechanical Technician (Maintenance) is to ensure the reliability and functionality of mechanical systems and equipment at the water treatment plant. This role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimizing mechanical operations to support the plant’s overall efficiency and safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct daily inspections and cleaning of all mechanical units and associated equipment.
- Record and log all reported faults for equipment performance evaluation.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in pumps, motors, valves, blowers, and other plant equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance of plant and equipment as per the maintenance schedule.
- Assist in carrying out planned maintenance of plant and equipment as scheduled.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in maintenance activities.
- Work collaboratively with the electrical and production teams to ensure seamless plant operations.
- Maintain an inventory of mechanical parts and tools for maintenance activities.
- Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
- Recommend improvements for mechanical systems to enhance plant efficiency.
Qualifications/Experience
- HND (Electrical Engineering) or equivalent technical qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance within a water treatment plant or similar industrial setting.
- Ability to read and write technical reports.
- Strong understanding of electrical installations and AutoCAD.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
