The West African Examination Council is seeking the services of qualified, hardworking, and experienced individuals for the position of Network Administrator II. Successful candidates will assist in the design, development, and digitization of aptitude tests. The following are the relevant responsibilities and qualifications for the position;

The successful applicants will be required to perform the following duties among
others, in the Information and Communication Technology Division:

·       Manage and maintain the Council’s IT infrastructure, including servers,
networks, hardware, and software systems.

·       Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and
peripheral devices.

·       Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, resolving hardware,
software, and network-related issues promptly and efficiently.

·       Ensure the security and integrity of the Council’s data by implementing robust
backup and disaster recovery solutions.

·       Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement measures
to optimise network efficiency.

·       Collaborate with the various departments to identify IT requirements, evaluate
potential solutions, and implement new systems or upgrades.

·       Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with security protocols
and industry best practices.

·       Stay updated with the latest technology trends, evaluate their potential impact,
and make recommendations for IT improvements.

·       Create and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and user manuals.

Qualifications and Experience

·       Bachelor’s degree in information technology/computer science/ computer
engineering, or a related field.

·       Minimum of three (3) years post-graduation proven work experience as an IT
Officer or similar role, demonstrating expertise in managing IT infrastructure and providing technical support.

·       Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and troubleshooting techniques.

·       Proficient in Windows and Linux operating systems.

·       Experience with network administration and security protocols.

·       Familiarity with cloud-based services and technologies.

·       Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

·       Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

·       Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified
Solutions Associate (MCSA) will be an added advantage.
