JOB DESCRIPTION
Role Purpose
The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will oversee the Jospong Group of Companies’ marketing ventures. This primarily involves developing and implementing strategies to strengthen the company’s market presence and establishing a compelling and unified voice across all subsidiaries. The CMO will be a seasoned marketing strategist passionate about innovation, team development, and driving growth through effective marketing leadership and execution.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Policy Development
- Formulate Group Marketing Policy aligned with overall corporate strategy.
- Develop and roll out the Group Marketing Strategy and SOPS.
- Ensure consistent execution and evaluation of marketing efforts across the Group.
Business Development and International Business
- Drive new market penetration strategies and work with teams to expand revenue streams.
- Partner with Business Development Officers to strengthen lead generation, market targeting, and opportunity conversion.
- Identify and support strategic partnerships and investment opportunities.
- Lead marketing support for international expansion, particularly in Africa.
- Ensure effective go-to-market strategies and localized execution in new regions.
- Oversee market, competitor, and customer insights gathering to inform decision-making.
- Guide product positioning and new opportunity identification based on insights.
Financial Management
- Develop the annual marketing budget and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
- Track marketing KPIS and report on ROI and spend effectiveness.
Information & Reporting
- Deliver periodic reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) on marketing strategy execution, campaigns, and performance.
- Provide timely insights for business decisions and market adjustments.
Marketing and Corporate Communications Activities
- Oversee brand development and ensure all sub-brands reflect JGC’s mission and identity.
- Manage corporate campaigns, product launches, and content creation across platforms.
- Evaluate campaign results and optimize future marketing plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with Corporate Communications to manage internal and external communications.
- Ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and engagements.
Human Capital Management
- Lead, coach, and build capacity within the marketing teams across the Group.
- Ensure staff recruitment, retention, KPIS, appraisals, and professional development.
- Foster a high-performance and innovation-driven culture in the marketing function.
Performance Review
- Monthly performance evaluations by Apex COO and Apex Board.
- Quarterly strategic review aligned with targets.
Job Specification
Education:
- MBA in Marketing or related field
- CIM UK Qualification (Chartered Marketer)
- DBA/PhD in Marketing is an advantage
Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in marketing leadership roles
- Minimum 8 years as CMO or Head of Marketing in a large multinational or Group structure
- Experience with international marketing strategy and execution
- Proven expertise in brand development, digital transformation, and business development
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strategic marketing planning and execution
- Cross-cultural and international marketing expertise
- Strong leadership and people development abilities
- Experience in financial and performance-based marketing management
- Skilled in digital marketing, CRM systems, and analytics
- Business and political acumen to navigate complex stakeholder environments
