Commercial Analyst

departments, analysing large amounts of information and taking ownership of work.

operations, risk management, commercial optimization and senior management
decision-making within a growing international energy business.
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and analytical professional with 5–10 years of experience to
support our oil refinery processing and commercial activities in Ghana.
The role will act as the central coordination point across all functions involved in the
Company's refinery processing agreement, ensuring accurate, timely and consistent
information flow between Trading, Technical, Operations, Risk, Finance and Sales teams.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining visibility across the entire
crude-to-products value chain, ensuring that critical information is accurately captured,
analysed and reported. The role requires a proactive mindset, strong commercial
awareness and the ability to identify risks, inefficiencies and optimization opportunities
before they impact performance.
Key Responsibilities
a. Commercial Coordination
· Act as the central coordination point across all functions involved in the refinery processing agreement.
· Ensure timely and accurate information flow between Trading, Technical, Operations, Risk, Finance and Sales teams.
· Monitor progress across the value chain and proactively identify bottlenecks, delays or risks that may impact performance or profitability.
b. Commercial Analysis & Performance Monitoring
· Analyse refinery performance, product yields, inventories, sales commitments and operational data.
· Identify trends, anomalies and commercial optimization opportunities and escalate findings to management & commercial departments.
· Challenge assumptions, investigate discrepancies and ensure management decisions are based on accurate information.
· Support evaluation of crude selection, refinery economics, blending opportunities and overall deal profitability.
c. Reporting & Business Intelligence
· Ensure operational and commercial information is accurately maintained within company systems.
· Produce daily/weekly/monthly/ad hoc reports and dashboards covering crude processing, inventories, yields, exposures, sales commitments and profitability.
· Work with internal and external service providers to continuously improve reporting and business intelligence tools.
d. Risk & Exposure Support
· Maintain accurate operational and commercial inputs used for exposure, inventory and hedge reporting.
· Work closely with the Risk Management team to ensure positions, projections and exposures are correctly reflected in company systems.
· Support forward inventory, production and sales forecasting activities.
e. Financial & Commercial Reporting
· Maintain the underlying data used for cash flow, FX exposure and P&L reporting.
· Ensure management reporting accurately reflects the latest operational and commercial position of the business.
f. Process Optimisation
· Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, controls, and information flow across the organization.
· Support implementation of new systems, analytical tools, and operational workflows.
Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
· 5–10 years of relevant experience.
· Exposure to oil trading, refining, logistics, commodities or energy markets preferred.
· Strong analytical and numerical skills.
· Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools is an advantage.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
