Job Brief
The Logistics Officer is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the clearing status of each cargo, vessel arrival status, gate in and gate out status and other port related challenges to ensure that the assigned licensed customs agencies clears cargos timely while adhering to shipping and regulatory protocol in documentation and clearance. At the center of this is a key focus in ensuring that demurrage and detention costs are minimized.
Responsibilities
i. Track and monitor the vessels arrival and cargo status.
ii. Ensure that the right tariff classification, duty calculation, and compliance is followed.
iii. Liaise with customs license agencies for smoother clearing processes.
iv. Check and approve applicable levies under government agencies without escape.
v. Liaise with finance for timely duty payment.
vi. Maintain complete records of all clearing documentation and transactions.
vii. Ensure accurate custom documentation compliance and IDF traceability.
viii. Maintain transparency and accountability with all agencies.
ix. Must prevent clearing downtime, penalties, and cost control.
x. Assist with production coordination as when necessary.
xi. Undertake other related duties as may reasonably be assigned by the line manager.
Educational Requirements and Experiences
i. Diploma or HND in Logistics and supply chain, purchasing, business management, and shipping administration.
ii. 3 + years of working experience in handling the same duties in cargo clearing.
iii. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
iv. Mandatory proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
v. Must be proactive and ability to work under pressure with little or without supervision.
